For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings. – Hosea 6:6
God does not need our self-sacrifice (i.e. penitence) to be forgiven of our sin. He does not need offerings (or good works) from us for us to be saved. Jesus already died on the cross to carry our sins and raised again for us to have eternal life. He is a God of mercy and He loves you so much and He wants you to be with Him. All we need is to acknowledge God, accept Him us LORD and Savior with all our hearts and the peace of God will transcend to us. We will not be anymore condemned because of sin, but we will have a new life with God living in us.
