Learner

Gallup Definition:

People exceptionally talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. The process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.

"I am one who enjoys the experience of being a learner."

"I will follow the things that interest me."

"I bring a learning perspective."

"I need exposure to new information and experiences."

"I love to live on the frontier/cutting edge."

"I hate knowing it all and know-it-alls."

"I might have the tendency to be curious which may lead to irrelevance or non-productivity."

Watch out fo the Gallup's post on how to develop your Learner talent.

Action Items:

If you have Learner as your dominant talent, you may consider these action items:

  • Refine how you learn. If you learn best by teaching, seek out opportunities to instruct others. If you learn best through reflection, carve out this quiet time.

  • Designate yourself as an early adopter of new technology. You will learn quickly and be able to share important advances with your colleagues and peers.

  • Honor your desire to learn. Discipline yourself to sign up for at least one new academic or learning course each year.

  • Find ways to track the progress of your learning.

  • Seek opportunities to stretch yourself with more difficult topics, courses or projects.

Note that these action items only serve as guide.
