Harmony

Gallup Definition:

People exceptionally talented in the Harmony theme look for consensus. They don't enjoy conflict; rather, they seek areas of agreement.

"I am clam, even-keeled."

"I will seek to eliminate the waste of emotional energy."

"I bring a peace-loving, conflict-resistant approach."

"I need areas of agreement, common ground."

"I love the sacrifice of personal agendas to facilitate group performance."

"I hate negative effects of friction."

"I might have the tendency to be afraid of conflict."

Action Items:

If you have Harmony as your dominant talent, you may consider these action items:

  • When working with others, stress the value of reaching consensus.

  • In discussions, look for practical side of things. Help others see this practical side. It is the starting point of agreement.

  • Build a network of people with differing perspectives on whom you can rely when you need expertise. Your openness to other viewpoints will help you learn.

  • Accept the responsibilities of being a good team member.

  • When people argue, ask others in the group to share their thoughts. You are more likely to find areas where all parties can agree.

  • Partner with someone with a strong Command or Activator theme. This person can help you confront conflict head-on.

Note that these action items only serve as guide.
